�й�����Ƭ’s diverse and talented alumni community is a meaningful part of what makes our school special. With a 120+ year legacy of graduates embodying character, courage, and compassion as they step out into the world empowered to make a difference, it’s no wonder �й�����Ƭ boasts accomplished alumni. To recognize the impressive efforts of our alumni, �й�����Ƭ presents two annual awards: The �й�����Ƭ Alumni Impact Award and �й�����Ƭ Young Alumni Changemaker Award.

The �й�����Ƭ Alumni Impact Award

The �й�����Ƭ Alumni Impact Award is presented annually to recognize distinguished alumni from the wide and diverse community of 10,500+ �й�����Ƭ alumni living around the globe. The award recognizes and honors alumni who have made a significant positive contribution in their field or pursuit, such as sustainability, community service, scientific/technological advancement, or the arts.

2023-24 Recipient: Lois Lowry ’54

Lauded for her contributions to children’s fiction, Lois Lowry ’54 is perhaps best known for Newbery Award winners The Giver and Number The Stars. Lois has been praised for authoring books to introduce complex to complex and thought-provoking themes like racism, terminal illness, and the Holocaust. Outside of the Newbery Medal, Lois's works have been nominated for or received more than 10 other literary awards and medals. Biographer Joel Chaston described her as "clearly one of the most important twentieth-century American writers for children."

The �й�����Ƭ Young Alumni Changemaker Award

The �й�����Ƭ Young Alumni Changemaker Award is presented annually to recognize the outstanding and impactful accomplishments of alumni who graduated in the last 15 years. The award recognizes and honors young alumni who have brought about a significant positive change to a community or institution—for example, through service work or through a role in policy, advocacy, or the nonprofit sector.

2023-24 Recipient: Sofía María Bosch ’16

Sofía is a bilingual special education humanities teacher leading a pilot program at a public school in Brooklyn, NYC with a special focus on bilingual literacy and project-based social studies content for newcomer students. She is an advocate for multilingualism and education that meets the needs of all students. She is also on the Alumni Advisory Board of USC Troy Camp, a program that provides long-term mentorship for youth in South Los Angeles, in charge of supporting Advocacy & Inclusion efforts of USC Troy Camp and its current leadership.

Nomination and Selection Criteria

Nomination Criteria

1. Any member of the �й�����Ƭ community can make nominations. Self-nominations are welcome.
2. Nominations should be submitted through . Only complete forms will be considered.
3. Those who attended �й�����Ƭ for more than one semester are considered alumni and are eligible to be nominated.
4. Nominees for the Young Alumni Changemaker Award must have graduated from high school (at �й�����Ƭ or another school) during the past 15 years.

Selection Criteria

1. Awards will be given annually to one or more alumni who have exemplified our mission and whose accomplishments fit the award descriptions.
2. Consideration will reflect the diversity of the �й�����Ƭ alumni community and the many fields of endeavor, avenues of achievement, and methods of expression represented amongst our alumni.
3. Volunteer service or financial contributions to �й�����Ƭ are not considered factors. 
4. Candidates for whom �й�����Ƭ does not have contact information or who are not responsive to contact from �й�����Ƭ may be removed from consideration.
5. Current members of the �й�����Ƭ Alumni Council are not eligible for consideration.
